Description

AEM offers brass absolute pressure sensors (PSIa) in various ranges: 30 PSIa (2 bar), 50 PSIa (3.5 bar), and 75 PSIa (5 bar). Unlike gauge pressure sensors that reference ambient air pressure as zero, PSIa sensors measure pressure relative to a perfect vacuum (absolute zero). This makes them ideal for applications like reading manifold pressure, where both positive (boost) and negative (vacuum) readings are important.

When exposed to atmospheric pressure at sea level, a PSIa sensor will typically read around 14.7 PSI. However, they can be recalibrated to display zero at atmospheric pressure and negative values for vacuum.

Choosing the right sensor depends on the required precision. Similar to how a caliper provides more precise measurements than a ruler, stainless steel pressure sensors offer greater accuracy compared to brass sensors.

Brass pressure sensors are suitable for applications where a general pressure reference is needed, such as a boost gauge that informs the driver about manifold pressure but doesn't provide critical data for engine control.

In contrast, stainless steel pressure sensors are better suited for situations demanding high accuracy, such as supplying pressure information to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for calibration purposes.

Features:
•    Brass sensors accurate to within 3% of full scale (pressure sensors)
•    High-quality sealed sensor housings are virtually impervious to automotive fluids (360-degree welded wetted area)
•    Connector and pins included
