Differentials

Differentials are essential components in vehicle drivetrains, enabling the wheels to rotate at different speeds during turns while maintaining power distribution. The differential on a car can be found in various configurations depending on drivetrain layout—typically as a rear differential in rear-wheel-drive vehicles or a front differential in front-wheel-drive systems. All-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles often use both front and rear differentials to optimize traction and handling across varying terrain.

A car differential gear includes pinions, ring gears, and side gears that must be precisely aligned and properly lubricated to function effectively. Over time, wear or damage may lead to the need for car differential repairs, particularly if there are signs of noise, vibration, or fluid leaks. Proper maintenance and timely replacement of differential components are crucial for preserving drivetrain performance and vehicle safety.
