Banks Power's Monster-Ram is a direct-replacement aluminum intake manifold designed to improve airflow from the intercooler. It achieves a Mass Air Flow (MAF) of 72.7 lbs/min with Banks’ High-Flow Heater and Billet Intake Plate, compared to the stock's 38.6 lbs/min MAF. This translates to increased boost without compromising turbine efficiency, resulting in a more responsive and powerful engine.
The complete Monster-Ram system includes the Banks High-Flow Heater and Billet Intake Plate. The High-Flow Heater replaces the restrictive stock heater grid plate with a vertical coil design that maintains cold-start functionality without obstructing airflow. The Billet Intake Plate removes all obstacles and turbulence from the airflow path.
Monster-Ram is designed using computational fluid-dynamics (CFD) and undergoes extensive testing on flow benches, dynos, and real-world applications. It features a larger, streamlined design compared to the factory inlet elbow, which is restricted to accommodate the stock fuel line. Banks engineers address this by incorporating a redesigned fuel line, allowing for unobstructed airflow.
For data acquisition purposes, the Monster-Ram includes four 1/8” NPT ports for temperature and pressure sensors.
Testing demonstrates that Monster-Ram outperforms all competitors, achieving more than double the airflow improvement of its closest rival.
