AEM offers brass PSIa pressure sensors in various pressure ranges including 30 psi (2 bar), 50 psi (3.5 bar), and 75 psi (5 bar). These sensors measure pressure relative to a perfect vacuum (absolute pressure), which is why they are called PSIa sensors. Unlike PSIg sensors that measure pressure relative to ambient atmospheric pressure, PSIa sensors can measure both positive pressure (boost) and negative pressure (vacuum).
When choosing between a brass and stainless steel pressure sensor, consider the application. Brass sensors are suitable for applications where a general indication of pressure is needed, such as with a boost gauge. Stainless steel sensors, on the other hand, provide more precise measurements and are typically used in applications where the Engine Control Unit (ECU) relies on accurate pressure data for calibration or control purposes, such as a MAP sensor.
