AEM offers stainless steel pressure sensors in various pressure ranges (100, 150, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 PSIg) designed to measure pressure relative to atmospheric pressure (gauge pressure). These sensors read 0 PSIg at atmospheric pressure. Common applications include monitoring oil pressure, fuel pressure, brake pressure, and nitrous pressure.

Choosing the right sensor depends on the desired level of precision. Similar to the difference between a ruler and a caliper for measuring distance, a brass pressure sensor provides a general indication of pressure, while a stainless steel sensor offers high accuracy. Brass sensors are suitable for applications where a basic pressure reference is needed, such as monitoring boost pressure with a gauge for informational purposes. Conversely, stainless steel sensors are ideal for critical applications requiring precise pressure data, such as supplying information to an Engine Control Unit (ECU) for calibration purposes.
