The Banks Power Derringer is an in-line tuner that utilizes dyno-calibrated data to optimize engine performance across the RPM range. It features microprocessor-based electronics that can adjust power delivery in real-time based on various sensor inputs, including fuel rail pressure, intake manifold temperature and pressure, exhaust gas temperature, and engine coolant temperature. Unlike competitor products, the Derringer also integrates with the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic bus for a more comprehensive picture of engine health.

The Derringer offers multiple power levels, allowing drivers to choose between increased performance for towing or improved fuel economy for daily use. It also features safety measures to prevent power delivery when the engine is cold or overheating. The Derringer can be used in conjunction with Banks' iDash DataMonster or SuperGauge to monitor engine and transmission functions, control power levels, and log data for later analysis.
