AEM offers absolute pressure sensors in various pressure ranges from 15 psi (1 bar) to 100 psi (7 bar). These sensors measure pressure relative to a perfect vacuum (absolute zero pressure). Unlike gauge pressure sensors that read pressure relative to ambient atmospheric pressure, absolute pressure sensors can measure vacuum. They output a reading of about 14.7 psi at sea level and can be recalibrated to display zero at atmospheric pressure.

Choosing between a brass and stainless steel sensor depends on the application. Brass sensors are suitable for applications where a general pressure reference is needed, such as a boost gauge. Stainless steel sensors provide more precise measurements and are ideal for critical applications like feeding data to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for precise calibration.
