Red Line GL-5 gear oil is formulated for exceptional protection and improved differential efficiency. It offers excellent lubrication, high viscosity index, and reduces operating temperatures. This gear oil surpasses API GL-5 specifications. While formerly known as Lightweight Gear Oil, the current formula includes friction modifiers compatible with clutch-type limited-slip differentials (LSDs) eliminating the need for additional modifiers in most cases.

This product is not suitable for most manual transmissions or synchronizer-equipped transaxles due to potential shifting issues caused by increased slipperiness. However, it is popular in many late-model vehicles across various brands and also finds application in Formula racing transmissions including Hewland LD-200 and FTR sequential gearboxes.

In terms of viscosity, Red Line GL-5 fulfills the requirements of SAE 75W80, 75W, 80W, and 85W gear oils, along with SAE 30 and SAE 10W30 motor oils.
