The K&N 57-2563 FIPK air intake system is a replacement for the factory air filter and air intake housing in certain Mercury Marauder models. Designed to significantly reduce intake restriction, K&N intakes enhance air flow by smoothing and straightening it. This allows for a larger volume of air intake compared to the factory assembly, resulting in increased power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The 57-2563 air intake includes a chrome-topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that fits into the existing air box space. Air is channeled through an aerodynamically engineered intake tube to the engine's throttle body, guaranteeing a power increase. The tube accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crankcase vent hose. The oversized cone-shaped air filter can last up to 100,000 miles before requiring service, depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install, typically within 90 minutes or less, utilizing existing factory mounting points.
