The Banks Power Derringer is an in-line tuner that delivers power and torque gains throughout the engine's RPM range. It utilizes a microprocessor to analyze various data inputs, including throttle position, RPM, and exhaust gas temperature, to optimize engine performance in real-time. This differs from competitor tuners. The Derringer offers six power levels that can be adjusted while driving. It connects to the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic port for communication and gathers data from various sensors. Safety features include constant monitoring of the Derringer itself and the vehicle. If an issue is detected, the Derringer automatically switches to stock power and sets a diagnostic code. Additionally, it prevents power increase during engine overheating or cold starts and adjusts power in case of engine knocking.
