K&N’s Orion air intake system is a universal design intended to enhance engine performance. This assembly incorporates a washable cotton gauze air filter within a plastic housing that shields against heat. Rigorous flow testing informed the Orion’s shape, optimizing airflow while maintaining filtration efficiency in a compact design. A provided template enables customized housing appearance. Featuring a 76mm filter base flange and 100mm intake, the system includes a provision for an optional vent adapter. Designed for versatile placement, the Orion requires a cold air feed and a straight outlet path to the engine for optimal function. Unlike open cone designs, the enclosed airbox offers controlled air intake, potentially increasing power due to denser, oxygen-rich cold air. While clamps and cold air feed are not included, the Orion’s flexibility proves advantageous, especially in heavily modified engine compartments lacking original airboxes.
