Red Line MT-90 is a 75W90 GL-4 synthetic gear oil designed for manual transmissions and transaxles. While similar in viscosity to some motor oils (SAE 5W40/10W40), it offers superior protection for gears and synchronizers. MT-90 is known for its ability to improve shifting, especially in cold weather, due to its balanced coefficient of friction. This makes it a popular choice for Nissan, Mazda, Toyota and other transmissions that require a GL-4 lubricant. Unlike some GL-5 oils, MT-90 is safe for transmissions with brass synchronizers because it lacks reactive sulfurs that can cause damage. In addition to its performance benefits, MT-90 offers extended synchronizer life and smooth gear changes. It meets the viscosity requirements of various gear oils (75W90, 80W90, 90) and motor oils (SAE 40, 10W40, 15W40) making it a versatile option for transmissions requiring GL-1, GL-3, GL-4 or specific synchromesh fluids.
