Red Line GL-5 gear oil, formerly known as Lightweight Gear Oil, is a high-performance lubricant formulated for outstanding protection and improved differential efficiency. This new version contains additional friction modifiers, making it suitable for clutch-type limited-slip differentials without requiring further additives in most cases.

The oil boasts exceptional lubrication properties, a high viscosity index for consistent film thickness across temperatures, and the ability to reduce operating temperatures. It surpasses API GL-5 specifications.

Red Line GL-5 gear oil is popular for various applications in late-model vehicles from numerous manufacturers, including differential oil, final drive oil, and transfer case fluid. While it excels in these applications, it's important to note that this oil is not recommended for most manual transmissions or synchronized transaxles due to its high level of slipperiness, which can hinder smooth gear changes.

The product also finds use in many Formula racing gearboxes, including Hewland LD-200 and FTR sequential transmissions. Additionally, its viscosity range covers SAE 75W80, 75W, 80W, and 85W gear oils, as well as SAE 30 and SAE 10W30 motor oils.
